When you do what you LOVE, share it!

By Amy Boyle in teaching photography lessons photography camps

This year ABP started something new, teaching. It began this summer with a Summer Camp for kids aged 10 -15. A week long camp called Through the eyes of a child. The daily lessons taught the campers the basics of digital photography and composition. One of the highlights for each camper was the three different photography field trips. We made use of amazing backdrops Chicago has to offer and learned about how to better capture what they see with their cameras.

In the fall, I began teaching an after school program for students in grades 3-8. With 11 students currently enrolled in the 10 week program we are able to really spend time learning color, composition, and light. It has been an amazing experience, and I happy to say that I will be continuing this program this winter as well.

Now not to ignore the adults, last week I did a talk for close to 40 women on how to better capture the images that are all around them. What dawned on me this year, I LOVE to teach. It is a thrill to see the spark I have photography ignite in another person. Coming in 2012 will be more planned talks and classes. If you have  a desire to get a group together for lessons, please contact ABP to get a custom lesson(s) scheduled.
